The bar down the road re-opened just before Christmas and started doing Sunday roasts sometime in January, so today I thought I'd try them out. To be fair on them I had lost track of the time, so it was well past lunch time by the time I rocked up (about 3:30) but since they advertise that food is served from 12 to 7, it was well within "service time". God the food was awful. Most of the veg was dried out, as though they cooked it at 12, then left it under a heat lamp for three hours. The meat was dry. And somehow they had burned the cauliflower - I have no idea how this is even possible, let the pan boil dry I suppose. And it was not cheap.
Still, at least the Yorkshire pudding was good. Quote:
Battlefield Earth is a "good old entertaining fictitious movie"???!!!!!! You must have seen a remake or something, because the version I saw was a pile of that stuff that comes out of the back end of cows! |

Hell, I can even believe that Moses thought he spoke to God on numerous occasions. People think they talk to people that aren't really there all the time. What I can't believe is that every 1st born male son was killed by whatever (aka Creeping Death) UNLESS you had recently painted your door with lambs blood. Come on. ...and yes, I did actually like Battlefield Earth! Maybe it's because I had no idea who L Ron Hubbard was and didn't really know it was supposed to be attached to Scientology - I just thought it was a decent sci-fi movie ![]() |

That is not exactly what I meant. I meant the Exodus actually happened. The "miracles" may have happened (either coincidence or genuine "acts of God") or they might never have happened, and the stories got exaggerated by retelling before the story was written down (the earliest description of the Exodus we have was written generations after the events actually occurred).
You know, I find it easier to believe that God parted the sea than I do to believe that someone actually enjoyed Battlefield Earth! If the film had not been a piece of religious dogma for a crank religion it would still have been necessary to mock it, simply because it was a really bad movie! |
