Monday January 4th (aka Running Really Late Today)

Good Morning

Up at 5:30, mostly because of the cat waking me, and back to work as usual. I need to close out last year but may wait a couple days as I know a funk will set in.

Wife is off work today, long vacation for her, and we are going to see Star Wars finally.

Really sore after the 6 hours of primer painting yesterday, did more than I planned, but at least that is done so after the week of rain I can hopefully finish that portion. Then there is just a ton of crap I was suppose to have done before the rain that did not get done so I have a feeling I will be in lots of pain over the next couple of months.

OK so how is this for stupid?

My friend who owns the puppy is rich and lazy, would rather pay someone to do something basic that do it himself (EG he has an electrician come round to change the light bulbs when they blow rather than do it himself). And he would rather pour hot fat down the sink than put it in a pot and throw it away (saves at least ten seconds work that way). So the weekend's problem with blocked drains is the third time that has happened, and it will happen again.

Talking to the plumber who came back and finally cleared them this morning, he tells me he has bought a tool specifically to unblock my friend's drains. Does not need it for any other job, just for my friend's extra deep blockages. But he gets so much work unblocking my friend's drains that it is a worthwhile investment for him (rather than renting one each time).

So God only knows how much my friend is paying in repeated plumber visits, just to save those few seconds it takes to tip the fat in an old coffee jar or similar, and throw it away!

Oh, and he also had to pay a couple of guys to fix his ice machine, because when the water backed up in the dining room sink, it also backed up into the ice machine and wrecked it!

How the other half live!!!!!
