A woman is like beer. They look good, they smell good, and you'd step over your own mother just to get one!

![]() Anyone have suggestions for a good mouse? I like 'em large & preferably cordless. I keep buying Logitech, but I am sick of them breaking. My mice always seem to lose tracking after a while. I am not totally opposed to going over to tablet pen or trackball, if someone has a good suggestion.
What do you use for a mouse? What would you prefer to use, if you could use any mouse or mouselike tool? |

Don't like cordless mice due to the batteries adding to the weight and also having to replace the batteries. Don't see the big deal of having a little wire connected too the computer.
This is the one that I've been using for he past five years or so. http://www.kensington.com/kensington...ize-mouse.aspx I especially like that it scrolls sideways as well as up and down. |

My sister that is a graphic artist started using a vertical mouse, and loves it!
So picking one up the next time I'm at the store is on my to-do list! |

I don't like wireless mouse mainly because I do all work on laptops and I like the mouse tethered to the computer this way when it falls off the couch (I do a bunch of work there) I can reel it back in without getting up, I am lazy
![]() Current mouse is a microsoft laser 6000 which I purchased years ago. |

I always advise against anything "cordless" because they are a security risk. (Years ago, when I worked in a computer shop, I used to amuse myself by "hacking" the RF spill from one computer onto another. It was easy, and I am told that hacking "cordless" equipment is even easier, although they only became popular after I left that business, so I've never tried it myself.)
Personally I use a cheap little mouse I got from China (via eBay). Cost less than $2 and works as well as the expensive branded one that it replaced. Lots of eBay sellers sell them, a simple search, list items cheapest first (buy now only) will give you plenty of Chinese sellers asking less that $2, and that includes postage from China, in most cases. On the subject of track balls: If you are used to mice, changing to a track ball is a different "hand discipline" and it will take you a while to get to the point where you are not constantly swearing at the mouse pointer as it flies off somewhere you did not want it to go. However I will be watching this thread myself for advice on track balls, because I want one for my MAME, to use for Missile Command (the original Missile Command used a track ball, and I am feeling nostalgic). |

Oh! I haven't changed since high school and suddenly I am uncool

I use primary keyboard commands as much as possible, including 'shift + F10' for right clicking. Of course a mouse is pretty necessary when working in photoshop for moving windows around and such, but I still use a lot of commands there too. You'd be surprised how quickly you can duplicate two layers, add a layer mask, apply image and add an adjustment setting using the keyboard, I'm not a fan of using the mouse. Also if you saw me working you would ask if I'm left handed, I'm not, but I use my left hand for mouse (just thought I'd add that).
Not certain which mouse I have installed, but I do like the feature of having the push buttons on both side for back a page and forward a page. PS: Strictly track pad and keyboard commands on laptop too, the tab key is a beautiful thing, not to mention the directional keys. Last edited by housekeeper; 2012-05-30 at 05:24 PM.. |
