What have you learned since being in the biz?
This is a slant from a thread I saw on another board...
For those of you who have done this a year or longer... What observations or tips would you pass along to newbies like me? General, specific...whatever...as long as it's good free advice.  Things to avoid... Commong pitfalls...mistakes, etc... That sorta deal... TIA |

I've learned alot of technical things.. but the one thing that has stuck in my mind forever is something a friend posted once:
Trust no one...and be a lovely fellow. Personal experience helped drive that point home... this is business, and some people play by a whole different set of rules then you might. |

Already said but the two big things are reputation and work hard. Ruin your reputation by stealing or cheating and you'll make it hard on yourself. You have to work hard every day at whatever it is you do. Build sites/galleries, SE pages, whatever but do it every day.

Always adept and be ready to change things. Just becasue it worked yesterday doesn't mean that it will work today.
No matter how much you spend on content and no matter how good that content is a year from now it's going to be last year's content. Make a plan and work the plan. If you thought it was worth the time to make a plan then it's probably worth the time to work it even if your 3/4 of the way through and it looks like crap. It always seems that it's the last 10% of the plan that makes all the money. Rebills are a beautiful thing. Green Guy is not a little green man from Mars. A bald head is the perfect place for boobies. Who would a thunk it? |
