Sponsors shouldnt redirect hosted sites

I wanted to ad something here to the LL owners who are posting in this thread.

When this change was made did one LL owner contact us to see if possibly there was some kind of porblem?

I think you LL owners out there are to quick to press the BANNED
button rather than seeing if there is something wrong. WHo knows what may be going on?

This also could have been avoided by JUST ONE LL owner contacting us and saying something ANYTHING rather than just "OH MY GOD another cheater".

In this case any LL owner who has banned the program has lost the chance to make money. (your Loss)

I know LL owners are have to be paranoid about cheaters but not everyone comes under one blanket.

The old excuse of being to busy doesn't hold. Your in a business here and you have customers that use your service. Its your obligation (as was mine) to contact people and find out the truth when such things as this pop up not just stamping them cheaters!

The ICQ you got was sent via an automated system - we use it to send out reminders about the radio show & it's pretty much unmanned, which is why there are never replies to messages sent from there.

And I said "behind your back" because there is no archive of this weeks radio show because I forgot to click the record button. I remember with about 5 minutes left & I was not not recording it on purpose.

As far as us talking about this thread on the show, we talk about a lot of threads each week - whatever the hot topic is at the time, Jim & I discuss it.

There's a somewhat happy middle ground in here that you seem to be missing - ARS & MaxCash did basically the same thing, but they told everyone 1-3 months ahead of time & they redirected the sites to the proper (or a similar) niche. Hell, even your nameless AVS, which I assume is Adult Check, let everyone know that they were changing things a few months before they did.

I remove 75-250 sites a day from my links - even at 1 minute per site, it's take 1-4 hours a day to contact these people & ask them why their sites are 404 or 302 or whatever. I don't have 7-28 extra hours a week to do this. So, 404's & 302's are deleted & banned.

However, if the site owner notified me ahead of time, I'd just pull the links & no one would be blacklisted




And your wife is of course welcome here, but if you go & look at her posts, she just stops by once a month & starts a "Hello" thread - for the most part, only the 1st time posters start those types of threads. Sig spammers have a tendency to do these kind of things & I sure hope that's not her goal here on the board

You redirect - you get banned - if you're a sponsor who redirects hosted stuff - don't get a horrible shock if all current listings and future subs promoting your proggy get deleted / rejected - you didn't bother to tell us you were going to redirect - why should we bother to tell you that we banned you.

This situation doesn't affect me, but I don't think it's right that you take a stab at wms who were (or believed they were) wronged (by you or someone who you're defending).

The redirect on the hosted sites was carrying the wms code?

I didn't ask to get an email informing us about being banned i asked why wasn't there any questions from those who listed our pages? LL owners BAN rather than checking anything out. Its much easier to hit the ban button than taking the time to see if there is a possible problem.

I could almost guarentee you that if a LL owner was making big bank on pages that were redirected they would not ban them as fast. I bet they would find out whats up first.

Yes and no. Our system was/is set up that the link code resides on the link list owners page so even if redirected to another page the code still follows. So nobody lost a thing.

I could understand it if we were just trying to make money ourselves by redirecting but this is not the case.

When my bot reports 302 found - I don't check the url... I'd love to be Mr Fair and run through every non-evil reason for this but 75% of the time a 302 goes to serious dialer / blind click proggy / popup / spyware / trojan / virus hell... I'm a sucker for punishment I'll admit - but the line has to be drawn somewhere.

You keep missing the point. It has NOTHING to do with the money! It is about link lists sending their surfer to what they told the surfer was a free site and they are redirected to a pay site!!!

And WhyTF would a link list share the burden? You seriously think a link list should contact everyone who REDIRECTS a listings? If it is a mistake, no problem. Then all they have to do is email the link list or come here and explain and they are almost always unbanned.
