I'm in Tampa with the wife for a wedding tonight. We're heading over there in 2 hours. It should be a fun night though we hardly know anyone!
I've always called it Tampa Bay because well, I thought that was its name but apparently, it's just Tampa (the city) and the Tampa Bay Lightning and Tampa Bay Buccaneers refer to the "area" of Tampa referred to as the Tampa Bay area

Growing up there used to be vast stretches of swamp and pinelands with nothing on it. Now, when you head over to the coast it's all connected. With strip malls and gas stations. sigh.

The area around Westshore and Clearwater are still nice.
Downtown St. Pete has the Dali Museum. Have a couple of cocktails and wander around that if you have time. Great and weird artist.
