That which does not kill us, will try, try again.
|
We lost power again from early Monday evening until late Tuesday afternoon. Seems the salt spray dried on the insulators on the power poles, and when we finally got a little clean rain Monday night, the salt melted, ran down onto the wooden cross-pieces on the poles, and started about 30 pole fires. Hopefully two days of light rain has washed all the insulators clean now, but I won't be surprised if we have another day or two of problems until we get some heavy rains behind us.
Raccoons, oh yes, they're definitely all over the place down here. Usually we see them fishing in the canal when the shrimp and snook are running through. But recently they've been coming up the outside steps to the upstairs screen porch and coming in to see what they can find. One cat had a run-in with one already, so now it's bleach bombs (balloons) to let them know to look somewhere else. Working away as usual here, just haven't been on the board as much because there's so much to catch up on after 7 storm-related multi-day power and Internet outages. Lots of empathy here for Cleo and others still suffering with generator power, or no power at all. This country has to get a lot better at getting people back to normal much more quickly. Simon
