I went to a fight last night & a hockey game broke out

One of the Senators plowed into our Captain after he took a shot & his shoulder hit his head & down he went. No penalty was called & for some reason, Ottawa put their skilled players out for the next shift, so Buffalo put out 3 fighters. What a fantastic mess! The goalies went at it, then Peters (our main fighter) started to beat up Ottawa's goalie. 100 penalty minutes later, 3 guys were ejected, the penalty box was full & the game went on. Oh yeah, we won 6-5

Same 2 teams fight...err....play tomorrow night in Ottawa!

Other than that, one of Yell's girls is having her friends down to the Pool House tonight for her birthday, so have to tidy that up real quick.

PC should be back tomorrow (blown motherboard & processor)

I'm thinking that the battery backup is (or was) the problem, since nothing else that's plug in to the same plug has ever had a problem (knock on wood) But my contractor is going to look into surge protecting my office just to be on the safe side.

Congrats on getting the PC diagnosed and on its way to happy computing again Greenie. I've never heard of a battery backup causing a meltdown, but suppose anything is possible.

It's the only thing that makes sense to my pee-sized brain Like I said, nothing else has ever had problem in the house & I have my radio/satellite plugged into the same plug that the batter back up is plugged into.

MML just told me that the motherboard & processor were under warranty, so they're sending me new ones (which will become backups) next week.

Yea, it's a possibility...just not something I've run across. Then again, not a lot of people even use a UPS...though I wouldn't be without one.

But, I'd also be inclined to ask them to actually test the power supply and make sure it's consistent in powering the system. If the power supply itself is surging, that could also be the root of what cooked the mobo/proc.

This is the 3rd (maybe 4th) system that's had the same problem & the only common denominator is the (old) battery backup.
