Rob, there is no way to seperate you from the scammers, multi submitters, and general scumbags that are out there. Many of them hide behind the same system.

It's hard to tell, and honestly, we would rather piss off a few honest people then get screwed over by these people.

That sounds perfectly reasonable to me - I'd object to being scammed too

Even so, I'm not too clear on how whois info can help too much on that score. As Fido pointed out, it's easy enough to fake the ownership info on a domain, and I don't suppose dishonest folks would worry too much about doing exactly that Pesonally, I prefer above board obscurity to dishonest openness, but that's just me.

Incidentally, please don't think I'm being argumentative over this point - I'm genuinely interested in the processes and pitfalls of running a link list. I've been toying with the idea of starting a link list at some point in the future as a possible means of mitigating the hassles of 2257, and it strikes me that it would be good to know about the potential problems well in advance.

Which leads me to another question I've been meaning to ask for a day or two; I gather from reading here and from the rules of various lists, that autosubmitters are My question is - why? I suppose they deluge the LL owners with submissions to the extent that they may push out other folks doing things by hand. Is that right, or is there another reason that I haven't figured out yet? Again, just curious.
