Greenguy and Jim Fantasy Football League 2006

Once again we are having a FFL here on GG&J, this year we will NOT be using ESPN due to all the server issues they had last year which caused our live drafts to be a nightmare.

We are using http://www.statsworld.com/ which cost $80 PER LEAGUE and we want 10-12 teams per league.

We also want to have cash prizes for First, Second and Third place so there is a $50.00 (Fifty) entry fee + the cost of the league divided by how many join in so $5 to $7 area each.

First Place - 50%
Second Place - 30%
Third Place - 20%

I will once more be the GM and as I have in years past I will be neutral and will not vote on any trades unless I am needed for a tie breaker. We have 6 confirmed so far and have asked 4 others who was in it last year to join and I still have not heard from them as yet.

If you was in one of the leagues last year you have a opening to join this year, if this is your first time and want to join in we want to give long time members of GG&J first chance so at this time we are requiring 1000 post to be allowed into it, this will decrease depending on if we get a full league or not.

*IF THERE IS MORE THEN 12*

If more people want in then 12 we will open a new league with only the cost of the league divided amongst the teams, we will only be doing ONE CASH PRIZE LEAGUE so any other leagues will have to play for pride or make side bets on their own. I am also open to having others who have less then 1000 post in the second league, but I will not start a 2nd league with less then 8 teams.

Let me know ASAP if you want in, and if you want in and do not have the post count let me know so I know who is interested, if I know who you are you have a better chance of getting in then with someone who I never heard of.

Friday September 1 2006 will be the draft date, I will try and get 6-7 pm since it could be a 2+ hour draft.

Anyone who wants in and only has 500 post let us know.

Figures...

But unless the 6 already in object we have very little choice and most is due to Ramster.

Don’t be scared off by it, it really is not that hard.

The draft will be the hardest part since it's live and you are on a time limit, but all the players will be ranked, and you will have a list of positions that you must have and I'm sure I or Greenie can suggest who (position) you should draft and where.

After that it is just a little time each week to make sure you have a starter for a position and that the match up for that starter is a good one, which the experts will give their opinions on who you should start, and if you have a weakness in one position and depth in another you can look for a trade.

It really is not as hard as it looks.

Toni and CollettX have both played the last 2 years and both have been in the finals both years. Last year I had absolutely my best over all team in my 6+ years of doing this and I fell short and lost in the finals, which was lucky since I almost lost in the first round, I think I won by 7 points, so it has a lot to do with luck and some to due with knowledge of the game.

Kickers go early, so you'll want to get one realy quick. Don't worry about Running backs, as you can trade for one later in the season......

So far we have 6 confirmed

We are still waiting to hear from Linkster and CollettX who have played the last few years if they are playing this year and I think we have someone who really wants to play, but is unsure how to play, so I hope some of this will help convince the others who have interest in playing, just scared since they don’t know how.

1) It really is not as hard as it sounds, the system is setup to where you will know who all the experts think is the best player overall and by position so even if you do not know anything about the players, you will know who is SUPPOSE to be the best.

2) You are told what position you need, how many you need.

3) By far the longest part of this will be the Live Draft on September 1, 2006 7:00PM, after that it’s no more then 15 minutes a week.

4) Yes, we are all competitive, but we are all willing to suggest, give advice and opinion to anyone who has never done it before.

5) Where else can you have fun trying to turn $60 or so into $250 and have 17 weeks of play time doing it?

6) NEWBIES CAN WIN IT ALL, I know, I did my very first time and I was against 12 others who had played this for 13+ years.

7) It really is not as hard as you think, there is so much data to look over and you can make your decisions that way, or fallow your gut instincts, either way, you have the same chance as everyone else.

8) It really is Fun as hell!

Greenguy and Jim 2006 League Handbook

There will be a live draft September 1, 2006 @ 7pm EST where 28 rounds of Live Draft will take place, this will leave you 2 empty spots for pick ups if needed.
Once a player is selected, he is exclusively yours until he is traded or released.

The weekly line-up will consist of the following:

1 QB
2 RB
2 WR
1 TE
1 K

2 DL
2 LB
2 DB

Scoring

All TDs are 6 pts (both offensive and defensive).
If one of your starters returns a kick, punt, or some other odd TD, they will get credit for the TD but not the return yards.

QB scoring:

TD pass, run or catch a TD : 6 pts.
For each 25 yards passing : 1 pt. i.e. 216 yards passing = 8 points
2 pt. conversion: 2 points (run, catch or throw it)
Interception: -4
Fumbles lost: -2 fumbles recovered by the opposition

RB, WR, TE, K, QB

TD: 6 points
2 pt. conversion: 2 points (run, catch or throw it)
For every 10 yards rushing : 1 pt. i.e. 54 yards rushing = 5 points
For every 10 yards receiving: 1 pt.
For every reception: 1 pt.
Interception thrown: - 4 i.e. your kicker tries to throw a pass from a botched kick and it's picked.
Fumbles lost: -2 fumbles recovered by the opposition

Kickers

Xtra point: 1 pt
Missed extra pt.: -1
Missed FG: -1

FG Distance: Made From To Points

0-20 yards 3pts
21-28 yards 4pts

37-44 yards 6pts
45-52 yards 7pts
53-59 yards 8pts
60-100 yards 10pts

Defensive scoring for all defensive players:

Solo tackle : 2 pts.
Assisted tackle: 1 pt.
Sack: 6 pts.

Each week you will play another team head to head.
The team with the higher score wins.

Super Bowl Winner: 50%
Runner-up: 30%

You may trade players with other teams up to week 12.
Pick-ups will be made through the website with the lowest team getting 1st shot at available players.

Just a FYI to those playing.

I had to fill in names for the teams, let me know what you want your team to be named and I can change it for you since you can not do it yourself.

The draft is “set” *BUT* it doesn’t have a way to “auto rank” the order of the draft itself, I just set it up in order to see how it works and from what I have seen so far it blows ESPN away.

Once we are set on the # of teams I will figure out a way to have a random order of teams and then rank the teams in that order in the FFL.

There is no way to randomize the order of the draft with statsworld, and I think the most fair way to pick the order is to do it with Greenie who I will be meeting in some seedy bar in Orlando this Friday night, so if there is any reservations on the fairness of how to order the picks, now would be the time to say so.

I assume picking lasts mean you pick first in round 2? Meaning it goes backward like most drafts. 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8then8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1then1-2-3-4...and so on

Yes snake draft is what we will be doing.

We could do 1-2-3, 1-2-3, etc but I think a snake draft is better and more fair so it will be 1-2-3,3-2-1, etc.
