The Crocodile Hunter was killed by a Stingray

I guess we all knew he was headed down a road where something like this could happen, but I sure was surprised when the news this morning reported he'd been done in by a stingray.

Just in case anyone's heading for a place that has rays in the waters, be sure you do the stingray shuffle from the time you enter the surf until you leave the water.

Very sad news

I too figured it would be a alligator that would get him. It's always sad when someone that young dies and leaves young kids behind. RIP crazy man!

You had to know that something was going to happen with him. The things he would do were just crazy. But a stingray ???

It is apparently very very rare for death to be caused by a sting from a ray. Leave it to him to accomplish accomplish it.

The greatest tragedy is the two young children that now have to grow up without their Dad.

yeah I seen that on the news, all the deadly snakes and crocks and this killed him, sad for his family

It is surprising that given his close encounters with so many very dangerous predators, that he ends up being done in by a very rare incident.

Also, agree that it's probaby best it was a ray that got him. He most definitely would not have wanted an animal destroyed for having taken his life. Had it been a croc or some other land dwelling critter, it probably would have been hunted down and killed.

He did have one helluva life...

I head this yesterday, I too couldn't believe it. I was sure he'd be eaten by a crock or bitten by a snake and go that way. But a stingray barb through the heart? omg what an odd way to go for someone that was around so many deadly predators all his life.

His wife and kids must be devestated. I can't believe his daughter is 8, I remember seeing pics of her about 3 years old. He is just 1 year younger than me. Makes you realize any of us could go any time.
