I sure everybody already knows this trick, but people have mentioned the difficulty of navigating all the forums...

If you put this link into your GG&J bookmark, everytime you call up the bookmark you get a nice list of all the newest posts in all the forums, with the most recently posted in threads coming up first on the list.

http://www.greenguysboard.com/board/....php?do=getnew

copy and paste this url into your properties in your bookmark.

sorry if this is already universally known. ;-}

Hmm..
Pretty much what everyone says, the community is the key. When I have a dumbass question I can generally find the answer here, and I help when I can with the non-tech stuff.
Great place to make deals! Only been here about a month and made a few.
About newbies, I was torn a new arsehole at first, but hey I asked for a review and the site sucked! I learned from it.
And I like Green so much I joined the Party

Negatives, morning comes too early for most of the chit chat My ass is barely out of bed then since I usually work until 3 or 4 a.m. If I really need to chat then, I wake up my wife and she usually has a few words for me

Great place!!

-It's more about business less about meaningless threads. It's like the wallstreet journal with a sense of humor. It may turn off some webmasters, but they're usually the ones that spend the most time posting threads.

-No points / rewards for posting other than a buddy jesus at 1k. I think the value of the board comes in the information you get rather than some monetary amount put on a post.

-General sense of community here. People are posting because they want to post and not for some other convoluted reasons.

Dislikes (more like suggestions):

-I'd kind of like to see a tutorial section on the forum. There's so much bad information given out on other boards, it would be great to just have a section on how things should be done. Eventhough there's a noobie section on the board, the information often gets spread out or buried in a few weeks and god help if people actually use the search feature, lol. It would be nice to have tutorials though written by some board members in their area of expertise. Maybe make the threads locked so they don't get cluttered with comments, etc.

It'd just be a resource for newbie webmasters that could easily be refferred to and if they want to learn they can.

-Attached images....just have them open up in the thread I know this function can get abused, so maybe you can put a limit on who can use it, say 100+ posts before they get that priviledge. Personally, I just like the pictures opening in the threads rather than a seperate link.

-The mrblue smiley being added to the smilies, lol...yeah, I'm on a quest to get him added everywhere:

Most of mine have already been mentioned.

Likes:
- New webmaster friendly. If someone needs help it's quick to come from all angles.
- So much great free information! I sometimes think you should charge for access to this forum and split the proceeds.
- The webmaster resources section/GG stats etc is priceless. I dig something useful out of there a couple of times per week.
- The Radio Show. I wish it was a few hours earlier and a bit longer. The random member competition was cool. Never seen that before.
- No-nonsense straight-talking advice.
- Building business relationships and personal ones.

Dislikes:
- People leaving for strange reasons, personality clashes etc.
- Time zones.

I like the way sponsors get treated special here
I do appreciate the difference between the business area and the bullshit area... most times I like to think I am ONLY interested in the all business forum because you know.. us spazes are renowned for our business acumen heh heh But lots of times its nice to see a good joke or just talk about nothing of consequence.

I like that I can brag that I joined this forum four days before it officially launched... makes me feel like someone important even if facts speak otherwise and I have a low post count. ( I remember the great database crash! )

What I don't like (and why my post count is low)
Clique-ish - it is like a knot. There is a core group of people that dominate the board... I guess it happens at every board but it seems pretty difficult to break into that clique around here

The board breakdown, while useful, feels to spread out to me
why can't newbies post business questions in the main forum?
why can't TGP questions be asked and answered in the main forum?
why can't link list questions be asked and answered in the main forum?

my point is those are all business related but probably don't get as many page views and the main forum does. More posts in the main forum in my mind equals more page views which benefits everyone not the least of which is the thread starter. I might be able to add something to a link list question... you know.. as someone who works for a sponsor... but I don't even check those other forums. The main forum is where my eyes go every time with an occasional peek into the chit chat area. Condensing the board and only having a few highly specialized 'other forums' would be something i would like to see.

you can probably afford to give a little room to wiggle when it comes to mentioning programs or services. There is blatant spam and there are people trying to work within the guidelines to bring their program to the attention of your members. I respect that sponsors should be treated special but if i am paranoid about about every sentence I use in a post it is going to take me more time on the board with less results so I don't post... I do not honestly have the time to become friends with everyone and while I am chatting with them on ICQ mention that my site rocks and is under exposed.

By tying my hands or making me nervous about what I write it makes me not want to write. How do I get business done if I cant mention the program I work for by name? if i check my sig between long absences to make sure it still conforms with the rules (I have that page bookmarked no kidding and this is the only site I feel the need to do it with)

I love this board and I never pass up the chance to recommend it to as many people as I can... I think there is a wealth of knowledge here that is unparalleled. But I don't post as much as I could because of the reasons stated above...

thats it, hope that helps

I like that the board is neatly divided into specific forums, which saves time searching for what you might want, but that might also leave some webmasters overwhelmed. I totally agree with the "New Post" idea. I actually find the username script amusing but also can understand how it might turn off others. I think the board has a much cleaner look than all other boards, if you know what I mean. I actually come here quite often to read threads but I don't post often for many reasons. Either I have nothing to add even though I found the thread interesting, or I dont want to get blasted by some guy who thinks he is board royalty just because he has a million posts(FYI - this has not happened on this particular board), or maybe I started to write what I thought was a well thought out post, only to preview it and realize I just wasted 10 minutes writing jiberish, or just maybe I forgot my user pass and dont feel like walking to the office to find the email it resides in(just lazy).
I do appreciate the fact that Greenguy went to the trouble to email us and ask for our input on his great board. Its quite clear that he cares about his board and I appreciate that. I will make a conscious effort to post here much more often.
This board rocks! @ Green Guy

No Dislikes, but the sites that people own here are out of my league!
I just own a few webcam sites and don't have the content you people seem to be looking for and the contacts I had made to site owners had been ignored si I felt I was just wasting everyones time including my own here.
All the best,
Ken Adair
