You might want to consider some daylight fluorescent tubes -- 4 should be enough to cover you (two above/front and one each side). Cooler than working under 15 bulbs not to mention electricity you will save!

Yes on the lighting.. natural lighting is always best but not very practical. While those "sunlight" lights are a bit more than regular, it really improves the quality and they don't burn quite as hot.
another quick cam note: use solid color sheets as a quick and easy way to change up your environment (background) they can just be taped to the wall since the webcam only has so much range. You can get cheap ones at Goodwill or Savers or any discount place in your area.
