I did the Fat Smash diet as well & I went from 195 to 175 in about 2 months - it really does suck for the 1st 9 days (especially the 1st few) but if you can stick to it, you'll drop a lot of weight.
Suggestion: make a big fruit salad once a week (I still do this 4 months later) It's great for a snack, you can eat it with oatmeal or yogurt now & with cereal in Stage 2.
