I have a small theory about this. Have you ever noticed that born-again Christians were the most fucked-up out of control people you knew before they suddenly found religion? Every born-again that I know, and I know a few, were druggies, alcoholics, and womanizers. I couldn't agree more. Many are still very extreme ... just in the other direction. A pendulum swings with the same amount of momentum acquired in the first swing - over time, maybe they'll come back down to a healthier balance, but usually not the ones who are still in full swing.

What sucks is over time these ideas become more cemented in their brains and while others hope for that extreme attitude to die down, it really becomes more difficult to undo...like Google's logarithmic PageRank algorithm and acquiring more page rank. lol. (there goes my focus.)
