That which does not kill us, will try, try again.

Good morning world
![]() Another cold night here. Okay, well, cold for us. Down in the 50s inside since there wasn't time to take Dareutwo's suggestion about the MrHeater he uses. Thanks for the pointer to that one. I took a look around over there and they also have this one which seemed to be designed for indoor use. Truth is though, it's those few nights a year when we have to huddle around the stoves that reminds us there actually IS a winter. This is the coldest it's been so far and it'll be back in the 77-79 F range by Sunday. The few 'cold' snaps we get just gives us excuses to air out the heavy blankets, sweaters and coats that would just stay in storage forever otherwise. To Dare and to Sue -- You could do what I did. I ordered a cheap 'cruiser' style bike from K-Mart. Available in men's and women's styles. $100 new or half that on Craig's List. All steel construction. No gears to mess with. Just a coaster brake. Nice fat tires. Very easy to put together if new, almost fully assembled in the box. I wanted something with very little investment/commitment up front, since I've spent money before on exercise equipment that turned into clothes racks. So this time there's no pressure from having an expensive bicycle that I have to make use of. And this time I'm finding that I'm really looking forward to the daily rides. If you decide to order a bike online, you may be able to get free shipping (Amazon in particular). Also, make sure to get at least a $10 air pump since the tires won't be fully inflated in the box. And I bought a better saddle (seat) from the local bike shop since that's the one thing definitely worth upgrading. Damn... more words that I intended. Oh well, time to quit and just wish everyone an excellent Friday, even if you weren't planning on having one. ![]() .

Too damn cold to ride a bike here unless you want frozen nipples.
More work on The Mighty Perve today. I think I finished templatizing it yesterday so that most of the pages have a more cohesive look. So much more to do. Gimmicks, features, etc, etc, etc. ![]()

If heaven ain't alot like Dixie, I ain't goin!

Brrrrrrr, Good Morning
Still chilly down Dixie way, but like the rest, we'll be in the 70s manana. Might run to the beach in a lil bit and reacquaint the gulls with groceries, but then again , I'm in a hearty work groove, so they may have to wait til tomorrow Simon - You are getting me in the mood for biking. I was an extremely avid biker back in younger days and to a lesser degree through 2005. Katrina got my bike and I haven't replaced it yet, but you have put it on my springtime agenda. When I was a kid I was involved in a freak accident and was a candidate to go to St Jude's. I didn't have to, but was always an active fund raiser for them after that. The summer before my Senior year in high school, I hopped on my bike and rode from Long Beach, Mississippi to St Louis, Mo. and back to raise money for St Jude's. I'd ride, camp on the roadside at night, then start fresh the next morning. Damn near killed me, but I made it and ended up raising around 12.000 dollars for the hospital. The ride up was a killer, but the brisk coast back downhill was a blast. Nothing like flying down the road at 50+ mph with brake pads melting. I bet I couldn't ride down to the end of the driveway now. Guess I better buy me another bike and get back in shape. The 26 mile boardwalk on the beach is set to be rebuilt by spring of 2009 I think. Then I'll ride to Biloxi and eat seafood and regret it all the way home. Ah shit, time for a joint and more coffee. Have a cycled kinda day!
