Another plus is sometimes a referring URL is unknown, like when someone bookmarks a sponsor site and goes back to it later. If you use a campaign code, and sort sales by campaign, it might show you which campaign the sale belonged to. So if the campaign stats show that the sale belonged to campaign A, and you use campaign A solely at site XYZ, then there's a good chance the sale came from your site XYZ.
