Fetish Bank - New index page layout
Hello guys. For the 10th anniversary of Fetish Bank I redesigned the index page: http://www.fetishbank.net/links/
My idea was to make a thematic index... I was wondering if some of you would like to comment...

Am I really the only one who sees that page as being nearly illegible? All of the small links are difficult to make out over that horrendous background.

If you want to keep a BG image, I'd suggest that the inside of the table be a solid color. It would be easier on the eyes, and readable. |

Uhmmm... I designed the page at 1024*768 and tested it at 800*600 with IE, Firefox, Opera and Chrome. Warrior, Nymph... What screen resolution are you using ? 1280*1024?
I'm going anyway to try a solid color for the tables. Thanks for the suggestion

The only reasons you don't see more people posting their opinion is that submitters are, for the most part, absolute pussies -- which is why I can get away with abusing them so easily -- and most people just don't give a shit what your site looks like.

You are going to find that no matter what you do, someone will be displeased and it is far from me to tell anyone how to do their site. I, too, have been subbing there on and off for years, and know the site is well respected in the community.
Yes, using a solid background for the links will make them more visible and easier to read. Is it your goal to make minor changes that will not alter the spirit of your site? or are you looking for a complete overhaul? One suggestion would be to make your site easier for you to edit by changing over to CSS to control the font sizes as well as backgrounds for your tables and cells. It isn't as hard to apply and it reduces a lot of the clutter in your code. PLUS when you decide to give it another overhaul, you have less work to do for more bang. Thank you for the hard work and effort you have put into the site over the years. It is appreciated by many.

Warrior is right when he say the background is ugly. I know. I've been told that so many times... : )
But right now, after all these years, that "ugliness", and that particular "ugly" background is a kind of factory brand, it's what allow people to recognize my site. Infact, as Pagan already understood, I don't want to alter too much the spirit of the site. It's would be like a yellow Ferrari. It has to be red ! I think the solid color for the tables is a smart idea. And I definitively have to learn how to use CSS. Believe or not, in all these years, I've been making most of my pages using the glorious Netscape Navigator Gold 3.0 ! Just moved to NVU, even if it seems to have some problems with nested tables...

I remember the way you had your catagories links on the main page before and I think that the new way you did it looks neater because you give a small descrpition for each catagorie.
If you don't want to alter things too much then I too would recommend using a solid color on the table background to help bring out the text more and make it easier to read and maybe also try and put up a few more banners. Most of the catagorie pages I saw had one banner at the top I would put a few more vertical banners down the center of your catagorie pages but not enough to over do it. |
