If your thumb is not eye catching enough the surfer blows right by it. Whereas a text link is more easily clicked purely out of curiosity. With the format change there might be a loss of SE traffic for the moment as well. |

Well, upon noticing the crash in to-sponsor clicks, a while back, I did a series of experiments with gallery designs using bigger better images as thumbnails, especially for movie galleries, counting the differences between clicks to sponsors on my older style galleries and the newer galleries (which take longer to make, needless to say).
No substantial increase in clicks to sponsor, irregardless of gallery style, as far as I could determine. I made a series of new style galleries movie and pic for the new dogfart site, starting the first day it came out - the clicks to sponsor were terrible. So, bigger thumbs, new sponsor, new content (tho typical dogfart) new gallery designs - still the crash in sponsor clicks continued. Hah - I did a test lesbian pic gallery - not my fave niche, not necessarily a great sponsor - to do a richards test. 12 clicks to the sponsor. That's a lot of galleries to make a signup. http://www.lesbian-kissing-pics.net/g1/lesbian_1r.htm Anyway, for the moment I don't seem to be able to design my way out of this richards sponsor clicks crash. |
