Four years ago some marketing company did a survey. Internet sales dropped by about a third during the World Cup. I know it is not so popular in America, but your customers come from all over the world and most of the world is glued to the football, so are not surfing.

This might have a lot to with it.. me myself watch 2-3 games every day

Yeah, my twitter stream was filled with people totally obsessed with it this year, even people in the states. There's got to be a connection, for sure (along with the other general mood and state of the economy already mentioned).
