@ecchi,
I like this post and understand your frustration. It looks like you had certain goals you wanted to achieve and it seems it didn't work out (typical of most of these types of sites) Since you control the site, why not: #1 Disable the comments. Approve ones with value #2 Give simple answers to simple questions #3 People will do what they want. You can't do much with that #4 White hat SEO can only be done with trusted partners, so there is definite risk to open it up to just anyone @newxxx sounds like the site being made is either a blog or locked type forum.
