The Morning Thread For 2013-12-02 ...

Got up at 4:30 this morning to go to the gym with Christy. I'm either going to get in shape or end up dead, whichever comes first.

Been in laptop hell for the last 48 hours or so.... The video chip on my 17 inch 2007 MacBook Pro is going bad. It will run fine for a bit and then I'll start seeing video artifacts on the screen which is then followed by the GUI locking up. It may just be that the thermal paste on the chip has dried up but getting to it involves totally removing the logic board and this laptop can't even be upgraded to run Mavericks so ordered a replacement today.

I bought a used 17 MacBook Pro late model 2011 which is the last year Apple made a 17 inch laptop off of Amazon. Got it for $1500 interest free for one year. Hopefully it won't take that long to get here. Replacement laptop comes with Lion installed so I upgraded my old laptop to Lion this morning so that the migration will go better. I really hate Lion. New laptop will run Mavericks so will be upgrading it right after I migrated my stiff off of this laptop.

Just a day of work planned. Hopefully this laptop won't give too much trouble before the new ones gets here.
