You're right, it is crazy to have to do that. I think Canada does it too but for Canada I think it is easier to "denounce" your living arrangement without giving up citizenship, unlike the US, allowing you to not have to file year after year.

Maybe its a N. American thing? My GF is from France and she doesn't have to report it, but this could be an EU thing. I have spoken to Aussies and they say they don't have to report back to Australia... GRR!! This time a year, I am more than usual anti America.
