Put it in a piece of cheese, squeeze the cheese all round it so it is entirely "taste hidden" (if it is too big you may have to break it up and hide pieces in several lumps of cheese). This usually works, but you do have to watch. I once had a dog who got wise to this and worked out how to suck the cheese off the pill, then spit the pill out.

Failing that, throw the pill to the back of Rufus Pip's mouth and hold his head so his nose is pointing a bit upwards, and stroke his throat. This is a nuclear option, but if the dog's health depends on the medicine can be necessary as a last resort.

Yesterday I mixed up canned chicken and some white rice I made. Letting that sit in the fridge with the chicken juice from the can in with it seemed to mask the taste of the meds from him
