Monday May 9th (aka My Vape Broke!)

Last couple of days have been hot and sunny. First good days this year. (And there were no good days last year. You know the old joke "Last year we had a mild winter - instead of summer." Well the winter we got instead of summer last year was not mild, it was more "winter" than the real winter!)

Because of the sudden hot weather, people are out in sleeveless tops and shorts or short skirts, exposing flesh that has been enshrouded in seventeen layers of extra thick thermal woollies for months. You have never seen a whiter shade of pale. If a washing powder could get your clothes as white as the limbs the British are exposing at the moment, it would become the best selling washing powder in the world.

Of course, in a couple of days time they will be as red as a boiled lobster, blistering, and in great pain. They will no doubt swear to be more careful next year, but in twelve months time will have forgotten that oath, and we will have the same dance all over again.

For me the weather had a special trick today. A glorious, sunny, coat-less day when I left with the puppy. Then when I was about three miles from his home, it poured with rain. We were both soaked through by the time I got him home.

Only one place sells vapes? I don't use the things, but if I did, there are several shops selling them within half a mile of me. I would say that at any time between 6am and midnight I could get a vape within a few minutes, and if I was prepared to travel a couple of miles, could get one any time of the day or night!

Uh... I used to think that the Brits had the whitest skin ever.. until I moved to Finland. When the temps here hit a balmy 20C this week (a chilly 68 to you folks in the states), the warm winter woolies came off, and well, the bright white skin was so amazing. It was even warmer over the weekend with even more tender, pale skin exposed than I ever remember seeing this early in the year. It was nearly 25C here yesterday - 75 degrees!! A heat wave! It will only last a few days, then the shorts and tank tops get put away for a week or so. It will go down to about 15C (upper 50s) in most areas, colder up north.

Removed more dead stuff from HND, and added some new categories... MUAHAHAHAH... the empire bounces back!
