Yesterday, after lunch, I fell asleep at the computer. Woke up a few hours later looked at the time and thought "Shit I've missed my hospital appointment".

As I have mentioned before, in England all medical bill are paid by the state (unless you choose to go private). However they obviously hate to waste money, so if you miss an appointment without telling them in advance they are not happy. Do it too often without a very good excuse and you can find yourself being refused non-urgent treatment. I was not sure if "I had a big lunch and fell asleep" would be a good enough excuse. So I began to 'phone the hospital in a panic.

Half way through dialling It suddenly occurred to me "Hang on today is Sunday, not Monday. My appointment is on Monday!"

So today I made bloody sure I had a light lunch, and stayed fully awake until it really was time to leave for my appointment.
