windows xp help

I need help

when i booted up this moning
internet explore wouldnt open

and i was getting a few error messages

I removed some software that were giving me the error messages
and everything works fine now but my computer is stuck in some sort of safe mode

everything is gray and theres no sound

Maybe system restore would help?

go to Start/Programs/Accessories/System Tools/System Restore.

You may have damaged, but repairable files.
To scan for bad files:
Go to start -- Run, type CMD and press enter.
Type SFC /SCANNOW and press enter... It may solve your problem.

but now my computer looks like the old windows 98

Maybe you have to change the settings to make it look like XP?

Start -> Settings -> Taskbar and Start menu

just a wild guess

hey tommy you get it fixed as far as the old windows look thats the way i run xp pro, i set it to run for performance and when its set like that, that is what you get..

I wish I had seen this earlier you could have restored to a date earlier than the problem. Say your puter was fine on the 1st and screwed on the 2nd, you could have restored the settings of the 1st.
