Bill - you're wrong with this assumption: not a single thumbnailed tgp (...I know of - and I know a lot: http://www.picxs.com/thumbtgp.html ) requires that you host the thumbnail on your server.
What might have confused you is the fact that some ask for a thumb URL to RETRIEVE a thumbnail from your site - but it's still saved at the script end...

Ramster had another method to make thumbs with ThumbPlus; if you're using it do a search on this board (it's posted here somewhere).
