Yes, playstation intends to continue making its consoles backward compatible. You'll be able to play any ps game on the ps3, 4, 5, 6, ad infinitum.

Believe it or not, I'm not really into games that much. I basically like a small selection that I just play when I've been working 14 or 16 hours straight and I don't have to engage my brain. I don't / cant sleep a lot and it gives me something to do when I'm in zombie mode (been a 4 hour a day sleeper since forever). I'm an electronics freak though, so anything new I have to get. My kids love it and play more with my crap than me.

Gran tourismo 4 looks great. It won the tokyo game awards for best driver. My kind of game. Get yourself a wheel though. Check out gta series, in particular san andreas if you get into consoles.
