Tuesday 3rd November And Ecchi Is Back!
Did ya miss me while I was gone?
Did you even notice that I was away? I'm thinking my constant bitching about the bad British weather finally paid off. I got surprisingly good weather for my holiday! Other than the weather I picked the worst week to go. I thought that going late in the year stuff would be closed so I chose school half term holiday week thinking a few things would be open because of the kids. What I had not counted on is that the town I was visiting has a clever trick to extend the season. They are famous for their light display (several miles of coloured lights, giant tableauxs, and even a street disco). They only switch these on at the end of the summer, so people wanting to see them have to book after the end of the school summer holidays. If you want to take the kids to see the lights, and don't want to take them out of school (in Britain you get fined if you take your kids out of school for a holiday) the only time you can go is the half term holiday. So last week was the busiest week in the year. On top of this, in that area Halloween is a major celebration, so people were going away for that too. It was like holidaying in the middle of a riot! But I had a good time. Spent too much money. Saw a lot of shows. Went to a lot of galleries and exhibitions. Even went to an "interactive" exhibition on the area's darker history, during which I was taken into a medieval court and tried for theft and cross dressing, found guilty, and hung to death as a punishment (was offered the alternative punishment of being transported to Wales, but that was a punishment worse than death). But I got off lightly. One of the other members of our group was tortured for being a Lancashire spy, and another was dissected by a doctor's assistant. Also saw the world's largest display of Chinese lanterns. That may not sound very impressive, but some were big. The largest were several stories high, and the one that impressed me most was a thirty foot Jack Russel dog! Back home, gotta work now. Lots to catch up on! |
