You've probably already thought of this, but searching for the monitor manufactor's website? Course HP or compaq do not make everything for a system, could be another manufactor.

Like I said, maybe you already thought about it.

Thanks for your help guys, I got it sorted at last. I am glad I asked here because I got the answer I needed, but terminally embarrassed because RawAlex was correct, it was the driver to the video card not the monitor. I cannot believe I was so stupid not to think of that.

Thanks again for your help, I am off now to stand in a corner with a dunce's cap on my head.
