Aw, Dad, you've done a lot of great things, but you're a very old man, and old people are useless

My business used to use PPC as it's main source of 'quality' traffic, but eventually they all raised the cost per click to a point where I was just funneling money. Unfortunately I only seem to ever get signups if I get a TON of clicks and I'm listed in the first two spots of the first page, so while you can say pay less than 10 cents per click, mainly with less popular keywords, you end up getting pushed to later pages and there's only so much traffic you can get. Right now I'm trying to figure out a way to make it work for me. Something though I've always lacked is a proper way to tell what is leading to signups. I don't have one of them fancy "approval pages" to put a link on so I'm not sure what the alternative is, maybe setting up a affiliate account... not sure.

But uh, yeah, it's usually good traffic, but it's not cheap like it used to, and google likes to raise the minimum of keywords just cuz it can.

That used to be the case , but Google is getting competition from other PPC platforms , Facebook , PlentyofFish and PPV - so they no longer have it all there own way.

You need to have proper conversion tracking in place to know which KWs are converting - then its a simple matter of deleting the non-performing ones from your campaign and increasing your spend on the buying keywords.

Ok well that's good to know, I know last year I would make a minimum bid, and a few hours later the price would 'magically' increase. It felt like a form of abuse.

I was looking at google's conv analysis tool and it looks like now they actually track uniques over the course of a month? Good to see, now I can actually use it for some actual results by putting it on my members homepage.
