I've been trying to loose the same thirty pounds now for the past five years or so. Everytime I would drop a few pounds I would gain it right back.
In January I started using the
FitBit app, also available for Android. My iPhone 5s has a motion chip in it so I don't need to buy an external device, just keep my phone on me.
So far I've lost 7 pounds and seem to be keeping it off, dropping about a 1/2 pound a week.
Being able to see how many calories I'm burning throughout the day verses how many I've consumed is really working for me. I'm shocked at how many calories are in each meal. So now I eat a lot less for breakfast and lunch since I don't want to be staving and not able to eat more in the day. Also, when I see I'm getting close to my allowed calories for the day it motivates me to exercise so that I can eat another meal.
