DrB - I guess the rule that most of us follow is what you do on your hub pages is your biz

I dont care if ya pop a dozen dialer consoles -

Doesnt make sense since the LL wouldnt be linking to that page anyway so it really doesnt affect them
I have mixed feelings about using the links that way as I have used them on a lot of sites and both Google and now Yahoo especially really like them - as long as you stay beyond their radar for hand edits which isn't likely on little free sites. The only penalty Ive seen that came close was using same color backgrounds and text links
