MSN
Lately I am seeing a lot of traffic from MSN
they obviously have some nice traffic I am thinking their stock might be a good investment they have no ads on their adult pages if they started some sort of pay per click thing like Google they might be rolling in the money I know they have really only started paying attention to their se in the last year or so they might be bigger then yahoo maybe in years bigger then Google what do you guys think ???

NO! Im not a female - but being a dragon, I do eat them.
|
Ive always believed that they will be the biggest SE within two years from now - the search results are not bad now that theyve worked out the bugs, the PPC engine they have behind the scenes is looking good and they have the power to make IE only recognize their own searches

I agree, MSN could take over in the future. I hope they do, they have a strong developer community, and in my opinion, they maybe a little more webmaster friendly.

The future of microsoft search
http://live.com http://ideas.live.com/ I believe Microsoft is going to intergrade their new operating systems and browsers with their online search. If they go that route that can gain a large portion of the search engine market almost overnight

I agree with your assessment. IF the regulators will allow them to get away with it they could easily leverage their hold on the desktop software market in ways that could increase their traffic at the search engines. MS is obviously looking for things to expand into because their software market alone is stagnating in growth. There is only so much they can do in that field... |

IMO
I sincerely doubt MSN will make any inroads in the near future, without hijacking/tying itself to searches within Windows. They are running behind now and trying to play catchup, and not doing a very good job of it. Sure they may increase their market share a little and get their PPC in order.. but they aint no Google. Took the hint.

MSN search is really nice, mostly because they do rotate their top listings, which really does make me feel good about what they are doing. While I know it makes it harder and harder to get top listings, I am liking generally what I see and it seems to work out.
Tommy, I agree with Linkster on this one, I can see MSN getting bigger and bigger, and becoming a more solid player as time goes on. When the next version of IE and Windows Vista comes out, look for the integration to be MUCH tighter. Alex |

I'm very encouraged by what I've seen from MSN in the last six months or so. Not a ton of traffic, but I've been getting some really nice, stable traffic to some of my niche hubs that are tightly targeted. I'm looking forward to seeing what will be coming in the future.

I think if they really focus they will do well. I to am seeing a good amount of traffic from them the last 2 months. Now I tend to think of this as a couple of ways. 1) either they are getting better 2) all the computers that were bought at christmas with pre-installed free msn accounts etc.
I know a girl who bought one the past christmas and is using msn cause it is free for like 6 months or something. The main thing that scares me with them is MS has had some great ideas that they get rolling but in the end seem to always fall short. IE .net can anyone tell me really what .net is supposed to do? I remember a few years back I was at a MS conference and it was supposed to make a paperless office and have every pda being able to access everything from medical records to car maintainence records. |

I don't know about getting bigger but I see a lot of hits from them and they are basically the same terms I rank high for at Google.
I'm liking it. ![]() |

I'm not a betting man, but if I were, I'd be backing alta-vista.
![]() Seriously though, competition among search engines can do little but benefit us by diversifying our listings. If we drop low on google, there's other SE traffic to be had. But that's just my ignorant opinion. |

MSN lost less ground to Google than Yahoo last year and when they stop useing Yahoos search results and go live with their version of Googles Adsense in June I think Yahoo will lose more ground. I wouldn't be surprised to see their new version of Internet Explorer launched this summer either.
When you add MSN Video and MSN TV together it makes MSN #1 in Online Broadcast Media and I can only see Online Broadcast Media getting more popular. As Danger Dave said "they ain't no Google" I can't imagine them ever catching up to google, but that doesn't mean there isn't room for their stock to go up in value. So to answer your question Tommy I think MSN would be a good investment. I could care less who is going to be the next se super power. All I care for is that MSN comes out of their BETA cpc tesing and opens it up to yoyo's like me to cash in on.

MSN brings you a lot of internet noobs, because it's integrated in IE/Windows.
I think this is a good thing.. These first-time internet users don't recognize affiliate links, never heard of usenet, etc..
