What exactly is and AVS site?

I plan to build one in the near future. From what I understand it's like a mini paysite. You build a site and protect it with a third party AVS program. Access to the mini paysite requires the surfer to sign up with the AVS program, which pays you on new signups. Rizzo, you still hanging around here? __________________ ~Warm and Fuzzy.
